In the same spirit as the early pioneers, my father arrived in Kenya as a 17 year old, looking for a new land with fresh promise. After 11 years of farming coffee, his heart led him to become more involved with wildlife and tourism. For the next 12 years he hunted professionally in Kenya, escorting individuals through the African wilderness in the pursuit of adventure and big game trophies.

Many of my earliest memories spring from this time. The long drives to remote destinations feature strongly, where we would be met by the smiling faces of the camp crew and the cool shade of canvas tents. It was during this time that I learned to love the land and really become aware of the rich diversity of wildlife in East Africa. Familiar and comforting sounds were as diverse as the early morning cooing of the ring-necked dove to the night time grunting roars of a pride of lions. I only fully appreciated this after completing my education abroad at University in Canada. After this I returned home to Kenya, the land that I love, and joined my family in the safari world. Since then I have immersed myself in the outdoor life of a professional safari guide. In the meantime my father traded gun for camera, and has since even hung up his camera in retirement.

Onsafari (K) Ltd developed from this background and flavour. The luxury safari camps and highly personalized experiences are all reminiscent of previous glories. We seek out remote and beautiful places, avoiding the mainstream tourism, appreciating the fabulous wildlife and birdlife as well as the fascinating cultures. Having traveled throughout Africa, I love to share my experience with other people who feel they might also like to experience time in Africa.
